Liya is facing colon cancer and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

Liya was diagnosed with colon cancer in May. The oncology team at Addis Ababa Cancer Centre has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in August. She will be away from work for about 5 weeks. Liya is 42, worked as a nurse until May, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Addis Ababa Cancer Centre 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes. Where the $1,500 goes: • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $60 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,000 • Household costs while unable to work: $310 • Scans and lab work: $130 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.
