Thomas was diagnosed with cervical cancer in December. The oncology team at Tallahassee Cancer Centre has planned 4 rounds of treatment, starting in February. He will be away from work for about 3 weeks. Thomas is 50, worked as a primary school teacher until December, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Tallahassee Cancer Centre 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $7,000 goes: • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $670 • Transport to Tallahassee Cancer Centre: $780 • Household costs while unable to work: $850 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $4,700 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
