Jonathan was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule that needs removal in June. The surgeon at Swansea General Hospital recommended emergency hernia repair, and He is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $7,250, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $5,750 short.
my son has been in and out of Swansea General Hospital since June. The doctors say a thyroid nodule that needs removal will get worse without emergency hernia repair. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $7,250 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Jonathan struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Jonathan won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $5,750 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $2,200
• Hospital stay (2 nights): $2,450
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $400
• Post-operative medication: $165
• Physiotherapy sessions: $240
• Travel and lodging for the family: $295

Gave what I could, wish it was more. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Take care
