San Diego
Lucas was diagnosed with cervical cancer in December. The oncology team at San Diego Cancer Centre has planned 10 rounds of treatment, starting in March. He will be away from work for about 10 weeks. Lucas is 33, worked as a shop owner until December, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to San Diego Cancer Centre 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes. Where the $11,700 goes: • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $690 • Household costs while unable to work: $1,750 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $9,260 I hope life is good to you. - Sadie

  • Sending good thoughts, Sadie. Wishing Lucas a smooth procedure and a full recovery. My father had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. All the best.

    • what's already covered and what's the $11,700 for?

It's all in the list in the story. nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team is the big one at $690, I'll post a receipt when it's paid. Good question.

    • Sending love, Sadie. It takes guts to ask. Well done. I have a 13 year old who wants to send good wishes too

      • you're not alone. Wishing Lucas a smooth procedure and a full recovery. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
