Oleg was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in April. The oncology team at the Kharkiv Oncology Institute has planned 10 rounds of treatment, starting in July. He will be away from work for about 10 weeks.
Oleg is 58, worked as a bank teller until April, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Kharkiv Oncology Institute 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $1,250 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $610
• Scans and lab work: $270
• Household costs while unable to work: $230
• Transport to the Kharkiv Oncology Institute: $140
