Help keep a free food pantry open for elderly neighbors in Duque de Caxias.

Since 2021, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Sunday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 23 families, and now we feed 241 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 54% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 15 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Duque de Caxias market and keep every receipt.
Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $800 goes:
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $185
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $510
• Baby formula and diapers: $105
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Rooting for you, Gabriel. Gave what I could, wish it was more. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry.
take care, Gabriel. I hope things turn around soon. Don't be hard on yourself for asking.
Rooting for you, Gabriel. Shared this with my family. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Take care
