Cataract surgery for Fernando: covering what insurance won't

Fernando was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in July. The surgeon at Zapopan General Hospital recommended cataract surgery, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,800, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $2,100 short.
my husband has been in and out of Zapopan General Hospital since July. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without cataract surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,800 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Fernando struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
