Since 2021, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Friday from the back of a community center. We started with 30 families, and now we feed 220 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 54% this summer, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 8 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Winnipeg market and keep every receipt.
Each $45 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $1,850 goes:
• Refrigeration and electricity: $180
• Baby formula and diapers: $490
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $1,180
Thanks for reading all this.

Thanks for sharing this, Wesley. Your post was clear and honest. Wish I lived closer to Mumbai so I could bring a meal. Blessings.
