The electricity and water account is 2 months behind. Derek received a disconnection notice that says service will be cut off on December unless $850 is paid. He had never been late before losing my job in August.
Derek called the provider and asked about a payment plan, but they need a down payment of $130 first, which isn't available.
The household includes three children under ten, and going through summer without electricity and water isn't safe. We would also lose the ability to run the medical equipment at home.
Derek is working on getting back on his feet, and wants to pay it forward once steady.
Every dollar goes to the account in Derek's name; a copy of the paid bill will be shared in the updates.
