Clean water and shade for San Francisco: restoring the Cedar wetland
Help us clean and replant the Cedar wetland before the September planting window closes.
🇺🇸 United States1,013 views
The Cedar wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This June, 55 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 66 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $1,500 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $780
• Signage and educational materials: $150
• Waste removal and skip hire: $570
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.
Updates from Cora
Quick update: $615 raised so far (41%). I met with the nursery and confirmed the amounts. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.
Wanted to say thank you properly. 41% funded and the plan for waste removal and skip hire is now scheduled.
Update from San Francisco: I made the first payment toward native saplings and stakes. We're at 8% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

take care. Looking forward to the next update. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like.
Hope it all works out, Cora. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Greetings from Alcalá de Henares.
You're not alone, Cora. Hope this works out for you. Put this on a community board in Lagos this morning. Take care.
