Gabriela has used a wheelchair since 2024, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Gabriela can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair. The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two. The ramp has to meet the accessibility guideline for gradient, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate ten hours of work. Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Gabriela's family will cook lunch for the team. I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

  • I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Put this on a community board in Newcastle upon Tyne this morning. Thinking of Rio de Janeiro

Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Thinking of Rio de Janeiro.
