Clean air and water for São Paulo: restoring the Union riverbank
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Union riverbank needs $500 for saplings and equipment.
🇧🇷 Brazil447 views
The Union riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 100 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 197 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $500 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $340
• Tools and protective gear: $70
• Signage and educational materials: $90
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

keep going, Juliana. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Take care
Best of luck. Your post was clear and honest. I went through something like this 13 years ago and strangers helped me out. Thinking of São Paulo
