Douglas has been on dialysis for 3 years and until recently drove to the Los Angeles Dialysis Unit alone. After a foot amputation, Douglas can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week. We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 3 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 31 km each way. Douglas is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food. Please say which day works for you in the comments. I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

  • Thanks for sharing this. I hope things turn around soon. Greetings from Houston.

    • hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. Wish I lived closer to Dundee so I could bring a meal. God bless.

      • good luck. It takes guts to ask. Well done. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it.

        • Sending good thoughts. Get well soon. After 8 years in social work I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Take care.
