Uberlândia
For four years I have run a sewing studio in Uberlândia. In August, a storm that collapsed the roof took a cutting table and overlocker. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me. Before that, my customers came every Monday, and I employed 2 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 5 weeks. This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment. Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item. Once I'm back on my feet I plan to hire back the people I had to let go. Where the $1,400 goes: • Replacing a cutting table and overlocker: $700 • Initial stock: fabric: $300 • Shop repairs and licensing: $145 • Working capital for the first month: $255 Thank you so much. - Elaine

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Elaine

    • Elaine Márcia CunhaOwnerAnswer

It's all in the list in the story. replacing a cutting table and overlocker is the big one at $700, I'll post a receipt when it's paid. Thanks, that means a lot.

I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. After 13 years in construction I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Thinking of Uberlândia.
