Jade was diagnosed with a herniated spinal disc in April. The surgeon at Pittsburgh Community Hospital recommended ACL reconstruction, and She is scheduled for July. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $7,500, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $3,800 short. my daughter has been in and out of Pittsburgh Community Hospital since April. The doctors say a herniated spinal disc will get worse without ACL reconstruction. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $7,500 is more than we can find. While we wait, Jade struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. The recovery period is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Jade won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing.
