Alka received an eviction notice - help us catch up on rent
A long illness left Alka short on rent for 3 months; help us stay in our home.

Following a long illness in the family, I fell 3 months behind on rent. Last Thursday a termination letter was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $450.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by June, we must leave.
I have a toddler and a baby at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working weekend shifts, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
Where the $450 goes:
• Rent arrears (3 months): $310
• Late fees and court costs: $35
• Utilities in arrears: $30
• First month of rent as a buffer: $75
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Alka.
Sure. The biggest one is rent arrears (3 months), $310. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Happy to explain more.
Best of luck, Alka. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I'm in engineering myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Love from Lexington!
Keep going, Alka. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes
Keep going, Alka. Gave what I could, wish it was more. My neighbor in Pune donated after I showed her your page. All the best.
