I live with multiple sclerosis. My occupational therapist at the San Francisco Mobility Clinic has assessed me and recommended a pair of hearing aids. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $4,650.
My current equipment is 10 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 6 weeks.
With the right equipment I could attend work interviews. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered.
Where the $4,650 goes:
• pair of hearing aids: $3,900
• Fitting and training sessions: $410
• Delivery and set-up: $90
• First-year servicing plan: $250
