A youth football pitch: a volunteer-led effort in Varanasi

We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a youth football pitch - we need $300 for materials.

Varanasi

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a youth football pitch. This year a group of 19 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Unity health centre yard, but no funding. We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $300. It will serve about 243 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in May and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $300 goes: • Materials: $175 • Permits and inspections: $35 • Safety equipment and signage: $40 • Tools hire and delivery: $50 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.
