For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a youth football pitch. This year a group of 28 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Union community hall, but no funding. We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $2,550. It will serve about 217 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly.
