Xue was diagnosed with a cleft palate needing repair in July. The surgeon at Hobart General Hospital recommended cataract surgery, and She is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $5,250, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $4,000 short.

While we wait, Xue struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Xue won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
