Fighting Hodgkin lymphoma: help Mekonnen afford treatment in Addis Ababa
Mekonnen is facing Hodgkin lymphoma and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

Mekonnen was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in October. The oncology team at Addis Ababa Regional Medical Center has planned 10 rounds of treatment, starting in January. He will be away from work for about 8 weeks.
Mekonnen is 36, worked as a nurse until October, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Addis Ababa Regional Medical Center 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.

• Scans and lab work: $115

Transport to Addis Ababa Regional Medical Center is $75 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page.
