Help Abigail pay for ACL reconstruction at Madina Orthopedic Institute
Abigail needs ACL reconstruction at Madina Orthopedic Institute and the family is $550 short of the hospital's estimate.
🇬🇭 Madina, Greater Accra, Ghana515 views
Abigail was diagnosed with an aortic valve defect in August. The surgeon at Madina Orthopedic Institute recommended ACL reconstruction, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $690, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $550 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Madina Orthopedic Institute since August. The doctors say an aortic valve defect will get worse without ACL reconstruction. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $690 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Abigail struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Abigail won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did.
Where the $550 goes:
• Travel and lodging for the family: $40
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $430
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $80
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Is there anything that isn't money that would help Abigail?
Thank you. If you're in Madina I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Ask me anything else.
Wishing Abigail a smooth procedure and a full recovery. Love from Kingston.
I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Put this on a community board in Faisalabad this morning.
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Abigail

You're not alone, Kwaku. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. All the best.
