A weekly ride to Shubra Regional Medical Center for Taghreed

A rota of drivers to Shubra Regional Medical Center would keep Taghreed on treatment. Even one trip a week helps.

Taghreed has been on dialysis for 1 years and until recently drove to Shubra Regional Medical Center alone. After an eyesight problem, Taghreed can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week. We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 4 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 25 km each way. Taghreed is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food. Please say which day works for you in the comments. I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

  • hope the doctors have good news. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Blessings.

    • Thanks for sharing this, Hala. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.

      • Hope things get better soon. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Shubra

        • Sending good thoughts, Hala. This could happen to any of us. Blessings

          • Thinking of you and your family, Hala. Hope you get there. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like
