A solar-powered water pump for the old Acacia bus depot: help our neighbors in Lahore
Volunteers in Lahore are raising $250 for a solar-powered water pump at the old Acacia bus depot.
🇵🇰 Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan528 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 19 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Acacia bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $250.
It will serve about 510 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $250 goes:
• Materials: $125
• Permits and inspections: $45
• Safety equipment and signage: $60
• Tools hire and delivery: $20
Thanks for being kind about this.

Stay strong, Kamran. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Put this on a community board in Mannheim this morning. Love from Mannheim.
Rooting for you, Kamran. It takes guts to ask. Well done. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Love from Dehiwala
