A solar-powered water pump for the Baobab health centre yard: help our neighbors in Mthatha
Volunteers in Mthatha are raising $1,000 for a solar-powered water pump at the Baobab health centre yard.
Anywhere in the world995 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 10 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Baobab health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $1,000.
It will serve about 84 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• Materials: $790
• Permits and inspections: $80
• Safety equipment and signage: $65
• Tools hire and delivery: $65
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
