A solar-powered water pump: a volunteer-led effort in Islamabad
A community-led a solar-powered water pump at the Sycamore community hall that will serve 144 neighbors.
🇵🇰 Islamabad, Islamabad Capital Territory, Pakistan556 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 27 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Sycamore community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $450.
It will serve about 144 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $450 goes:
• Materials: $330
• Permits and inspections: $40
• Tools hire and delivery: $80
