A solar-powered water pump: a volunteer-led effort in Embakasi
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a solar-powered water pump - we need $400 for materials.
🇰🇪 Kenya1,520 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 21 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Unity Park, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $400.
It will serve about 84 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $400 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $20
• Safety equipment and signage: $70
• Materials: $310
If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people.
