A skate park: a volunteer-led effort in Rawalpindi
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a skate park - we need $250 for materials.
🇵🇰 Pakistan484 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 8 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Jacaranda bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $250.
It will serve about 224 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in June and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $250 goes:
• Materials: $125
• Permits and inspections: $40
• Safety equipment and signage: $45
• Tools hire and delivery: $40
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
Updates from Fahad
Good news. Because of your gifts ($45 in total) I made the first payment toward permits and inspections. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely. - Fahad

Shared this with my family. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Love from Nairobi
You're not alone. This could happen to any of us. My colleague had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Love from Mombasa.
thinking of you and your family, Fahad. More neighborhoods should do this. After 25 years in customer support I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
