A sensory garden for children with autism for the old Freedom bus depot: help our neighbors in Mumbai
Volunteers in Mumbai are raising $350 for a sensory garden for children with autism at the old Freedom bus depot.
🇮🇳 India1,320 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 29 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Freedom bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $350.
It will serve about 457 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in March and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $350 goes:
• Materials: $220
• Permits and inspections: $25
• Safety equipment and signage: $55
• Tools hire and delivery: $50
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

Thinking of you, Shilpa. This could happen to any of us. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too.
Good luck, Shilpa. Shared it with a few friends. Wish I lived closer to Aurangabad so I could bring a meal. Love from Mannheim
Good luck, Shilpa. Gave what I could, wish it was more. All the best
