A repair café workshop: a volunteer-led effort in Madina
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a repair café workshop - we need $350 for materials.
🇬🇭 Madina, Greater Accra, Ghana1,076 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 18 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Baobab health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $350.
It will serve about 277 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $350 goes:
• Materials: $210
• Permits and inspections: $40
• Safety equipment and signage: $35
• Tools hire and delivery: $65
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.
