Flash flood in Miami: help the Hillcrest neighborhood rebuild
After the flash flood, families in the Hillcrest neighborhood need clean water, roofing materials and bedding.

The flash flood hit the Hillcrest neighborhood on 23 April. My home was one of 89 damaged, and 3 families are still in temporary shelter at the local school gym.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates.
Where the $8,150 goes:
• Roofing sheets and timber: $3,800
• Clean water and purification supplies: $500
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $860
• Food parcels for displaced families: $910
• Tools and labor for repairs: $2,080
Thank you for reading my story.

Good luck. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Wish I lived closer to Dresden so I could bring a meal.
thinking of you and your family, Mateo. Gave what I could, wish it was more. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it.
Praying for you, Mateo. I hope things turn around soon. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Greetings from Chattanooga.
