We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a playground - we need $700 for materials.

Ekurhuleni

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 15 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Union community hall, but no funding. We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $700. It will serve about 560 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in April and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $700 goes: • Materials: $510 • Permits and inspections: $85 • Safety equipment and signage: $30 • Tools hire and delivery: $75 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
