Amelia was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in August. The oncology team at Bellevue Cancer Centre has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in October. She will be away from work for about 7 weeks.
Amelia is 39, worked as a taxi driver until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Bellevue Cancer Centre 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $8,750 goes:
• Transport to Bellevue Cancer Centre: $920
• Household costs while unable to work: $2,100
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $5,730
