A playground: a volunteer-led effort in San Sebastián
A community-led a playground at Maple Primary School that will serve 466 neighbors.
🇪🇸 Basque Country, Spain3,904 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 25 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Maple Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $2,700.
It will serve about 466 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,700 goes:
• Materials: $2,350
• Safety equipment and signage: $105
• Tools hire and delivery: $245
If you're reading this, thank you.

Best of luck, Valentina. Shared it with a few friends. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like
shared it with a few friends. My father had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Love from Hialeah
More neighborhoods should do this. Thinking of San Sebastián.
