A fresh start in Bornova: help the Mukiza family resettle

After fleeing Ukraine, the Mukiza family has arrived in Bornova with little more than their documents. They need help with a deposit, furniture and the first months.

Bornova
My family left Ukraine 12 months ago after we could no longer live safely. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Bornova. We're a family of six and we're safe, but we arrived with very little. Our resettlement agency has provided 4 months of rent, and that support ends in August. I was an engineer in Ukraine, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well. We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months. All purchases will be documented and photos shared (with the family's consent). Where the $1,200 goes: • Winter clothing and school supplies: $145 • Beds, table and basic furniture: $380 • Rent deposit and first month: $600 • Phone and internet for school and job search: $75 Thank you so much. - Seda

Updates from Seda

  1. Update from Bornova: I made the first payment toward phone and internet for school and job search. We're at 16% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  2. Wanted to say thank you properly. 7% funded and I made the first payment toward winter clothing and school supplies.

    • So sorry you're going through this. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Greetings from Berlin.
