A community garden: a volunteer-led effort in Santa Rosa

Volunteers in Santa Rosa are raising $250 for a community garden at the Lotus health centre yard.

Santa Rosa
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 27 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Lotus health centre yard, but no funding. We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $250. It will serve about 494 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $250 goes: • Materials: $160 • Tools hire and delivery: $65 • Safety equipment and signage: $25 Every share and every dollar helps.
