A community fridge for the Jacaranda vacant lot: help our neighbors in Madurai

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 13 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Jacaranda vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $200. It will serve about 84 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in May and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $200 goes: • Materials: $120 • Safety equipment and signage: $30 • Tools hire and delivery: $50 Every share and every dollar helps. - Sunita
