I'm Naana, 17, in Grade 12. My parents work long hours and didn't go to university, so there's no one at home who can help me understand applications, deadlines or financial aid. I'd like to study economics. I have a 3.9 average, I volunteer at a food pantry and I have a draft of my personal statement. What I need is someone to read my essays, tell me honestly what's weak, and explain how scholarships work. I'm looking for an hour a week until August. We can do it by video from anywhere. My mother will be at home during every call, and the school counselor knows about this request. Thanks for reading. It took me a long time to ask. I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

  • Keep going, Naana. As a teacher I love seeing someone work this hard to learn. It's not much but it's yours. Thinking of Accra.

    • Thanks for sharing this, Naana. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Put this on a community board in Fort Worth this morning.
