Winter storm in Syracuse: help the Millbrook neighborhood rebuild
After the winter storm, families in the Millbrook neighborhood need clean water, roofing materials and bedding.
🇺🇸 Syracuse, New York, United States4,203 views
The winter storm hit the Millbrook neighborhood on 24 July. My home was one of 26 damaged, and 4 families are still in temporary shelter at a borrowed warehouse.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters.
Where the $3,550 goes:
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $970
• Tools and labor for repairs: $1,300
• Food parcels for displaced families: $1,280
Thank you for reading my story.

Take care. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. My neighbor in Johannesburg donated after I showed her your page.
Take care, Isla. It takes guts to ask. Well done
Good luck, Isla. It takes guts to ask. Well done. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it.
hope it all works out. This could happen to any of us. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Love from Hanoi
