Weekly meals for neighbors in need in Mumbai
The Community Pantry pantry in Mumbai is running low just as demand rises; $550 will stock it for 11 weeks.

Since 2020, our volunteer team has run Community Pantry every Wednesday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 28 families, and now we feed 143 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 55% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 10 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Mumbai market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $550 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $210
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $185
• Baby formula and diapers: $90
• Refrigeration and electricity: $65
