Weekly meals for families facing hunger in Shinjuku
Mio runs a volunteer pantry feeding 93 families; this fund restocks shelves for the school holidays.

Since 2021, our volunteer team has run Neighbors' Pantry every Sunday from the back of a community center. We started with 10 families, and now we feed 93 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 48% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 17 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Shinjuku market and keep every receipt.
Each $25 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $2,250 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $810
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $910
• Baby formula and diapers: $200
• Refrigeration and electricity: $330
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.
