Weekly meals for families facing hunger in Osaka
Kaori runs a volunteer pantry feeding 187 families; this fund restocks shelves for the school holidays.

Since 2021, our volunteer team has run Community Pantry every Thursday from the back of a community center. We started with 29 families, and now we feed 187 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 58% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 10 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Osaka market and keep every receipt.
Each $25 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $1,250 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $570
• Refrigeration and electricity: $140
• Baby formula and diapers: $540
