The flood hit the families of Northside Lane on 7 August. My home was one of 82 damaged, and 14 families are still in temporary shelter at a mosque and church hall. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters. Where the $2,400 goes: • Roofing sheets and timber: $940 • Clean water and purification supplies: $155 • Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $430 • Food parcels for displaced families: $270 • Tools and labor for repairs: $605 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

      • Good luck, Murilo. Gave what I could, wish it was more. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Thinking of Guarulhos

        • Good luck. More neighborhoods should do this. I went through something like this 14 years ago and strangers helped me out. Take care.

          • Hope it all works out, Murilo. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Take care

            • I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Wish I lived closer to Nha Trang so I could bring a meal. Greetings from Buffalo
