Volunteer day: Community Soup Kitchen Night, San Diego

We're short of hands for the Community Soup Kitchen Night; can you spare a morning?

Every year the Community Soup Kitchen Night brings together 595 neighbors in San Diego. I help organize it with 9 other volunteers, and this year our numbers are down. We need people for registration, sorting donations and carrying boxes. Shifts are four hours long and you can pick the one that suits you. Food and drinks are provided for all volunteers. It's a fun day for all ages, and our goal is to keep it free. No experience is necessary - we'll brief everyone at the start of the day. If you can come with a friend, even better. Please say in the comments which shift works for you. Thank you for reading my story.

  • Praying for you. More neighborhoods should do this. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. All the best.

    • You're not alone, Easton. Shared this with my family. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Blessings.

      • Wishing you peace. Your post was clear and honest. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. All the best

        • Thinking of you and your family. This could happen to any of us. I went through something like this 7 years ago and strangers helped me out. Take care.

          • Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Sent it to 3 people at work. Thinking of San Diego.
