Mason was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer in August. The oncology team at Burnaby University Hospital has planned 4 rounds of treatment, starting in October. He will be away from work for about 5 weeks.
Mason is 54, worked as a primary school teacher until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Burnaby University Hospital 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.

• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $680
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $5,250
• Household costs while unable to work: $1,750
• Transport to Burnaby University Hospital: $1,220
