Valve repair surgery for Dawid: covering what insurance won't
After a hernia that has become strangulated, Dawid was cleared for valve repair surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Dawid was diagnosed with a hernia that has become strangulated in July. The surgeon at Warsaw Regional Medical Center recommended valve repair surgery, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $5,000, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $2,550 short.
my son has been in and out of Warsaw Regional Medical Center since July. The doctors say a hernia that has become strangulated will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $5,000 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Dawid struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Dawid won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $2,550 goes:
• Hospital stay (2 nights): $960
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $1,450
• Post-operative medication: $140
