Valve repair surgery for Christian: covering what insurance won't
Christian needs valve repair surgery at Salerno Orthopedic Institute and the family is $3,300 short of the hospital's estimate.

Christian was diagnosed with an aortic valve defect in March. The surgeon at Salerno Orthopedic Institute recommended valve repair surgery, and He is scheduled for May. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $4,400, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $3,300 short.
my brother has been in and out of Salerno Orthopedic Institute since March. The doctors say an aortic valve defect will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $4,400 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Christian struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 6 weeks. During that time Christian won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $3,300 goes:
• Physiotherapy sessions: $680
• Hospital stay (2 nights): $2,100
• Post-operative medication: $155
• Travel and lodging for the family: $365

Rooting for you. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I went through something like this 14 years ago and strangers helped me out.
Take care, Cristina. Looking forward to the next update. I'll check back for the next update. Love from Pune
