A first-generation student, Apio needs help covering tuition for the final stretch of a degree in civil engineering.
🇰🇪 Nairobi, Kenya1,141 views
Apio is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a degree in civil engineering at Nairobi Polytechnic, and is one term away from graduating. She has worked as a library assistant to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $750.
The registrar has said Apio can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Apio has a 3.6 average, and a department head has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Apio would lose her place and scholarship eligibility.
Apio isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
Where the $750 goes:
• Outstanding tuition balance: $310
• Final term tuition: $400
• Exam and lab fees: $40
