The Sahin family fled Afghanistan - help them rebuild in Saint-Étienne
Help a family of 6 start their new life in Saint-Étienne: furniture, rent deposit and language classes.
🇫🇷 Saint-Étienne, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France962 views
My family left Afghanistan 14 months ago after we were targeted for our work. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Saint-Étienne. We're a family of six and we're safe, but we arrived with very little.
Our resettlement agency has provided 2 months of rent, and that support ends in November.
I was an electrician in Afghanistan, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well.
We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months.
Funds are managed by the Saint-Étienne Refugee Support Network, a registered organization, which pays the landlord and suppliers on the family's behalf.
Where the $1,650 goes:
• Language classes and bus passes: $400
• Beds, table and basic furniture: $750
• Phone and internet for school and job search: $110
• Winter clothing and school supplies: $390
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Take care, Emma. This could happen to any of us. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. God bless.
Stay strong, Emma. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I'll check back for the next update. Thinking of Saint-Étienne.
Thanks for sharing this, Emma. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry.
