My family left Eritrea 6 months ago after we could no longer live safely. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Christchurch. We're a family of seven and we're safe, but we arrived with very little. Our resettlement agency has provided 2 months of rent, and that support ends in December. I was a shopkeeper in Eritrea, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well. We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months. All purchases will be documented and photos shared (with the family's consent). Where the $2,450 goes: • Language classes and bus passes: $210 • Winter clothing and school supplies: $290 • Rent deposit and first month: $1,750 • Phone and internet for school and job search: $200 Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.
